Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers revealed that he had a ‘brilliant’ chat with Luis Suarez about his future plans, and turned down the rumours linking the striker’s move to the Serie A side, Juventus during the summer transfer window.
The Uruguayan International arrived at Anfield from the Dutch outfit, Ajax for an estimated 22.8 million pounds transfer fee in January last year, after signing a five and a half year deal with Liverpool. He remains to this date, the Reds second most expensive
signing.
Given the striker’s apparent troubles in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and his knack of getting into the centre of controversies, rumours have circulated that the 25-year old might be heading out of the Premier League, with multiple potential suitors having already made public
their interest in him. Amongst the many, Juventus and Paris Saint Germain are the two most prominent clubs who are reportedly keeping close tabs on the player.
However, Rodgers quashed all the speculations surrounding the player’s possible destination next season by divulging that he recently had a meeting with him, and instead of parting ways the Merseyside club, he plans on extending his contract with the Reds.
While talking to reporters, he said: “I’ve had a brilliant chat with Luis. He’s really looking forward to being here and we are obviously hoping that we can get him on to another new contract. He’s really looking forward to the new season.”
With the European Championships having ended, the clubs will now gear up for pre-season preparations and the summer transfer activities are expected to go full throttle in the ongoing month.
The Northern Irishman indicated that he was satisfied with the current set of players that he has at his disposal, but admitted that he plans on signing three to four players during the transfer market, in order to further strengthen the squad.
He added, “I’m looking forward to bringing in three or four players that can really affect the group. I’ve got a wonderful group of players here at the moment.”
He further said that some of the player’s agents were linking the names of their clients with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in order to boost their value in the transfer market, but he only plans on landing those players at Anfield who will really make a difference.
