The boss at Anfield, Brendan Rodgers, let out his excitement over taking on his former club Swansea City in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup.
Liverpool put up an impressive fight in their 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday night.
Brendan Rodgers’ unit fell behind in the game through early goal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Tamas-c14343.
However, on-loan midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nuri-Sahin-c28251, stepped up to the plate to spare his team’s blushes, scoring a brace to send them through to the next round.
Liverpool will now take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup’s Swansea City, who got the better of Crawley Town to book their place in the 4th round.
The game will carry extra significance for the Northern Irishman, as he will go against his former club.
Earlier, he coached the south http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 outfit for a spell of two years, helping them climb to the top-flight of English football.
After having made a switch to Anfield this summer, Rodgers revealed that he was really excited about taking on his former team.
He unearthed that he had no plans of decamping from the Liberty Stadium, but a lucrative offer from the Reds was too good to turn down for him.
“The Swansea game will be a special occasion, very much so. It is a wonderful club, a brilliant club, and I was in no rush to leave there. I could only leave there to go to another special club. It will be a great night,” he told the reporters.
Liverpool, who won the previous edition of the League Cup in February this year, will play Swansea at Anfield – a fact that could play to their advantage.
Although the Reds will go through a tough schedule over the next couple of months – playing Europa League matches apart from their domestic duties – Rodgers refused to give secondary importance to the League Cup.
In fact, he insisted that his team will look to win every tournament in which they feature, and that is something which has remained a trademark of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 FC.
“The nature of this club is we want to win every game and, if we get a few young players out of it (the Capital One Cup), it will really help us moving forward,” he added.
Following their triumph on Wednesday, the Anfield outfit will next visit the Carrow Road to take on Norwich City in an EPL fixture on Saturday.
