http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 boss, Brendan Rodgers, is planning on signing two to three strikers during the January transfer window in order to patch up his problems upfront.
The Merseyside club are currently operating with a depleted squad, particularly struggling at the attacking end of the field.
After loaning out Andy Carroll to West Ham United this summer, the Reds failed to land in his suitable replacement and have, ever since, remained over-reliant on Luis Suarez.
Things got from bad to worse for Rodgers last month as his other striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-Borini-c13163, sustained an ankle injury and is set to remain sidelined until January.
The situation has forced the Anfield chief to draw on his academy players. Although the youngsters have shown plenty of promise, none have succeeded to establish themselves as a recognized striker.
In order to smoother the problem, the Ulsterman has revealed that he plans on landing in multiple forwards during the January window.
The former Swansea City boss said his side are experiencing a transition period at the moment, but feels that they need to bring in reinforcements if they are to challenge their financially mighty top-four rivals.
“I feel January is a window to freshen up the squad with a number of names,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“I don't want to say a particular number but, at the top end of the field, we need that help and support…This season was always going to be one of transition but that doesn't stop us being motivated to fight on.”
Liverpool have captured just 10 points from their first 9 games. During this period, the team have only managed to score 12 goals and conceded 14 times.
In order to swell his options upfront, Rodgers can recall Carroll from West Ham after the start of the new year.
However, it is something which is not on the manager’s mind.
Rodgers said that the English International needs to get more playing time on the field – something which he is not willing to offer him for now.
“Andy said he wants to play and I haven't thought that will change so much if he comes back. It is something that is always up for consideration,” he added.
The 39-year old further stated that the Reds can still attract top-class players from around the world and cited Nuri Sahin’s example to support his point.
