Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers, has bemoaned the defensive lapses in his side’s 3-1 defeat to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Wednesday.
The Merseyside outfit went ahead on the night through a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kenwyne-Jones-c20659 claimed
the lead for his side.
With the Potters creating the better of the chances in the second period, Walters further stretched his side’s advantage, just after the break, to seal a dismal night for the visitors.
The win lifted the Potters to the eighth spot in the Premier League table, just 5 points shy of the Champions League berth. They are now unbeaten in their last nine league matches.
On the other hand, the loss pushed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 down to the tenth place. Brendan Rodgers’ men have now suffered 2 defeats in their last 3 matches.
Anyhow, the Anfield chief was left ruing the defensive mistakes that his side made.
The former Swansea City boss insisted that teams need to be at their best when they visit the Britannia Stadium, and that they did not deserve to win with such a lacklustre performance.
“I think all three goals were actually quite straightforward to defend. A direct ball, and obviously Martin Skrtel slips, which was unfortunate,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“We got into some good areas but ultimately, when you come to places like this, it's a difficult place to come and you've got to defend better or else you'll get nothing. We deserved nothing because of that.”
Although Rodgers was left gutted after the defeat, it did not prevent him from praising the recent form of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tony-c35440 Pulis’ team.
The manager said that Stoke had the squad to compete for the CL spot this season, but nonetheless, cautioned his side to improve defensively.
“They've got some terrific players and they do what they do very well. But from our perspective it was poor defending,” he added.
Liverpool will next play QPR at the Loftus Road Stadium on Sunday.
