Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers, has turned down the speculations that he is contemplating recalling Andy Carroll from West Ham United to tend to his injury woes.
The English International was loaned out to the Hammers close to transfer deadline date this summer, after struggling to make an impact during his stint at Anfield.
However, since his departure, the Reds problems upfront have only mounted. After failing to bring in a suitable replacement for him, the Ulsterman has been hit by another setback recently, as striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-Borini-c13163 has fractured his foot. He is set to remain
sidelined for up to three months.
A provision lies in Carroll’s loan-deal, according to which http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 can recall the 23-year old in between the season.
Earlier, the Hammers co-owner, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Gold, had confessed that Carroll could head back to Anfield in January.
Nonetheless, Rodgers moved to dispel such surmises. The 39-year old unearthed that the club’s scouts were currently monitoring the forward, but they had no plans of re-acquiring his services in the midst of the campaign.
“It isn't something I have considered, to be honest,” the Northern Irishman is reported to have said.
“Andy has obviously gone out to get games. We have people watching when he plays and they report back on how he is doing. But with Fabio's injury just coming up we will assess it from there.”
It has been turbulent times for the Merseyside outfit since the start of the term. Out of the seven league matches that they have competed in so far, the men in red have only bagged a single win and are tottering in the bottom half of the table.
Their problems have been further compounded by the injury of Borini, with Luis Suarez now left as the only established striker in the squad.
The manager, however, refused to hit the pick button as yet. He said that he was wary of the issues that his team were facing in the frontline and hinted at bringing in reinforcements in January.
“Even in January if we bring someone in it may not be January 1, so that is something which, over time, I need to assess and we'll look to manage the squad,” he added.
