The Northern Irishman had earlier made known his intentions of off loading Andy Carroll this summer, in order to facilitate new signings.
On Thursday night, the Merseyside club made an official announcement of having agreed to the loan offer from West Ham United for the English International.
With the deal now done and dusted, Rodgers will now turn his focus on hiring a new striker, in order to strengthen his attacking options.
Currently, the Reds are believed to be in the transfer market to sign Fulham’s Clint Dempsey, with some rumours also linking them to the signature of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Llorente-c13671.
Furthermore, the arrival of a couple of young players at Anfield is also expected.
Speaking to the reporters about Carroll’s deal, the former Swansea City boss mentioned that it would prove to be a mutually beneficial arrangement for all the parties involved. He explained that the striker will get the opportunity to get more playing time
on the field, while allowing the Reds to make eleventh-hour signings.
“Andy leaving was on the understanding that he would go out and get games, as he would not get many here. He is going to West Ham to get games, and we have the opportunity to get another player tomorrow,” he said.
According to some reports, the manager is also planning on selling out Charlie Adam and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jay-Spearing-c18106, and is also willing to entertain proposals for loan deals for some of the young players.
The current reality of the squad indicates that Rodgers is likely to sign a top striker, in order to expunge the club’s over dependence on Luis Suarez upfront.
Responding to the rumours surrounding his transfer ambitions for the last day, Rodgers refused to spill any specific details and stated that he is still exploring multiple options.
“There’s been lots of movement, so we’ll see what happens, and we have a number of targets. There’s been nothing as yet [on Spearing or Adam], as we wanted to concentrate purely on the game. Now the game is done, we will get an update on that.”
