The Anfield boss, Brendan Rodgers, lashed out at Sven-Goran Eriksson for suggesting that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 cannot win a Premier League title with Liverpool.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 manager had said this week that the Reds stalwart will end his career without an EPL laurel under his belt if he stays at the Merseyside club, and advised him to make a switch if he was to fulfil his dream.
Gerrard has won multiple accolades with Liverpool during his illustrious career, which includes Champions League, FA Cup, Carling Cup and UEFA Super Cup triumphs. However, he is yet to lay his hands on the league trophy.
Earlier, in his career, the Three Lions skipper was approached by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 at a time when the Blues were on a title winning spree. Nonetheless, he turned down the offer out of his sheer loyalty towards Liverpool.
Contrary to the Swede’s remarks, Rodgers was of the opinion that Gerrard has still got time to live his dream of winning the league title, and for that, he does not need to decamp from Anfield.
The former Swansea boss is reported to have said, “He has always felt this is the club where he could still win it and he has still got a number of years left in his career. We understand how difficult it is going to be but I think he will still feel the
dream is here. I don’t think he needs to move anywhere.”
Irrespective of what anyone says, the midfielder is known to be a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809-man through and through, and has no plans of leaving the club for which he has now played for about 14 years.
So far, he has represented the Reds in a staggering 584 games in all competitions, and has also bagged 150 goals.
Rodgers mentioned that the 32-year old should not be too concerned about the taunts being hurled at him for not being able to win a league accolade, pointing out that he has already got myriad trophies under his belt.
“He is an iconic figure for this football club. He has won every major honour you could possibly win at this club, but obviously there is one missing and he will want to fight for the rest of his career to win it here.”
