Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers, has asked Raheem Sterling to pen a new long-term deal with the Reds.
The Ulsterman was of the opinion that Anfield was the best place for the emerging player to polish his abilities, and advised him not to pursue a career elsewhere.
The 17-year old has been one of the star performers for the Merseyside outfit in the ongoing campaign, having already established a first-team status at such a young age.
The talented winger has made 11 league appearances and also represented the Reds in a handful of games in the Europa League. However, he has found the back of the new just once so far.
Such has been the rise of the English International that he was named in the Three Lions squad by the national manager, Roy Hodgson, in October.
The Anfield chief, Rodgers, is often credited for his gutsy decision of introducing the fledgling at the professional circuitry despite his tender age.

The former Swansea City boss insisted that Sterling would not have gotten so many caps at 17 years of age in any other club, and was confident that he would be able to cajole him into staying at Anfield.
“This is a club that is going to give young players an opportunity. He has played more games than he could have dreamed of this season, both in the Premier League and the Europa League,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“This is Liverpool Football Club. If you are 17 years of age and you are playing regularly you would be very foolish not to commit yourself very quickly. I am confident it is something that will be sorted out very soon.”
