Rodney Marsh praises the change of attitude in the current English team – Cricket News Update
Former Australian wicketkeeper, Rodney Marsh has praised the performances of the English team in recent past and believes that the change of attitude is the real reason behind the success of the current English team.
England is currently playing a four-match Test series against India, which is ranked as the number one ranked Test team of the world. However, a victory margin of two or more matches will ensure that England takes the crown of the best team of the longer
version of the sport.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 by massive margins in the first two Test matches at Lord's and Trent Bridge and they look set to do the same in the remaining two Tests as well.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-James-Marshall-c90362 believes that the previous English teams always tried to run away from the competition and they wanted to be on the safe side rather than playing aggressive cricket. However, he thinks that the same is not the case with this English side, which is
ready to hold the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bull-c48831 from the horns.
Former Aussie keeper said, "If we were in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and we saw clouds coming over we prayed that they went away, whereas the Englishmen prayed the clouds would make it rain so they didn't have to play, because if you don't play you can't fail. That was the
archetypal English professional's attitude.”
Marsh was all praise for this new aggressive attitude of the English team and cited it as the reason behind their success over the last couple of years, as England have won the Ashes consecutively in 2009 and in 2010-11.
He added that one of the major attributes of the current English side is its strength in the fast bowling department.
"The big change about them now is they have become ultra-competitive. They want to win and they want to dominate. It's healthy for cricket, there's no doubt about that. They are a very good side at the moment and their side is based around a big depth of
fast bowlers,” Marsh added.
A proof of England’s bench strength was seen in the Trent Bridge Test, where http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TT-Bresnan-c2711 replaced the injured Chris Tremlett and picked up seven wickets in the match, to add to his crucial 90 in the second innings of the match.
