Rodney Stuckey in form as Detroit Pistons thrash Toronto Raptors 105-86-NBA Recap
On Saturday night Detroit Pistons were looking to remain hot, playing for a season’s best 4th consecutive win at home.
They took the said task down with a dash after trouncing the visiting Toronto Raptors, 105-86. Pistons lead by as much as 31 points and never trailed in the game.
Moreover they had 6 players in double figure score, led by a game high 20 points from Rodney Stuckey who frustrated the Raptors defence all night long.
"We've been doing a good job of attacking lately. We knew they really didn't have any shot-blockers back there, so we were just trying to get stops and attack and get easy baskets. We did a pretty good job of doing that the whole game."
Brandon Knight netted 19 and once again proved that he is a worthy candidate for the NBA Rookie of the Year award. Jonas Jerebko collected 13 points coming off the bench, Jason Maxiell had 12 and Greg Monroe poured in 11 points.
Tayshaun Prince chipped in with 10 points as Detroit improved to 15-26 after this victory.
DeMar DeRozan led the Raptors’ with 15 points and Jerryd Bayless along with Gray Forbes collected 12 apiece coming off the bench.
Aaron Gray netted 10 while Andrea Bargnani chipped in with 8 points after recovering from a calf injury.
Pistons blasted their way into the opening frame with a 15 - 4 run, and faced no difficulty to stretch it to 27-14 deep through the frame.
The away side was left baffled as Pistons capped off the segment with a 10-0 spurt. Detroit had a phenomenal boost from Brandon Knight as he netted 15 points in this period to help his team claim a mammoth 37-14 lead.
Deep through the 2nd Pistons had stretched their advantage to 51-27 and with Raptors inability to claw off the deficit, they capped off the segment after augmenting their lead to 61-37.
Toronto never stood a chance in the game after wards and they strived to reduce the deficit in the 3rd quarter. Their efforts though remained fruitless, as deep through the frame Pistons had augmented their lead to 86-50.
They raced further away after reeling a 9-2 run to conclude the quarter with an 89-58 advantage.
Detroit went cold in the last period after taking 30 points lead, Raptors tried to take advantage of that as they trimmed down the deficit to 93-71 after reeling a 13-4 run.
Toronto managed to get as close as 103-83 before Will Bynum chipped in a pair from charity stripe and pushed Pistons further ahead with 105-83.
Gary Forbes chipped in with a trey to reduce his team’s margin of defeat to 105-86.
Raptors coach Dwane Casey was shocked by his team’s adverse show.
"I'm shocked that we came out with that kind of effort, there was no defensive focus, there was no screening - there was no fundamental that we executed tonight, and I'm shocked."
