Rodney Stuckey lead Detroit Pistons to 104-100 win over Philadelphia 76ers: NBA Update
Rodney Stuckey leads the Detroit Pistons to 104-100 win over the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Centre, Philadelphia on Wednesday night. Stuckey posted a match-high 29 points and four rebounds for the Pistons. Tayshaun Prince also contributed 14 exceedingly
well points which resulted in a fabulous win for the Detroit Pistons.
Jrue Holiday scored 21, Andres Nocioni and Evan Turner scored 18 points each for the Sixers, but these three also were not able to stop the thrust of the Pistons. The Sixers’ whole team looked tired during the game and especially early in the third quarter
when the pistons outscored the Sixers with 31-21.
The Sixers’ Head Coach, Doug Collins, also admitted the fact as his team was really tired and was not able to play at their expected level. He said, “Just looking at our guys' eyes, we were mentally and physically tired.”
The Sixers have qualified for the play-offs and fancy their chances against the star-studded Miami Heat. The Sixers qualified as the number seventh seed in the Eastern Conference, whereas the Miami went ahead into the play-offs grabbing the second position
in the same Conference.
Now the Sixers have qualified into the play-offs, their entire team is looking ahead to give a tough time to the roster of Miami Heat while the Sixers’ forward, Thaddeus Young, also mentioned his and rest of the Sixers players’s preparation towards this
massive encounter.
Young said, “ We just have got to go in there mentally ready. Tough, mentally focused, mentally ready. Every aspect of the game. Be ready to go out there and play physical. Give those guys a run for their money. Tonight was a tough loss. You know we wanted
to go into the playoffs with a little momentum, but hey, things happen like that. We just have got to go out there and look forward to the next game."
The Detroit Pistons finished their regular season at number 11th overall in the Eastern Conference. Though the Pistons Coach, John Kuester, seemed very happy to defeat the Sixers in this particular match, but he was little disturbed as the Pistons
could not qualify for the play-offs. He spoke in the media short after when the match was over.
Kuester said, “I'll tell you this. I know we've four out of the last five and guys played hard. I'm proud of them. It's pretty neat when you can say you won your last game and all. That's important. I just wish we were in the playoffs.”
The Pistons led the Sixers early in the first quarter when they stretched a nine points’ lead at 13-4. Though the Sixers decreased this deficit to five points at the end of the first quarter 29-24, but they judged this early aggressive play by the Pistons.
The Sixers combined themselves early in the second quarter and soon levelled the match with 38-38 in the middle of the quarter.
Second half of the game was much very much exciting as compared to the previous two quarters. Both the teams openly played their hard-hilted game. Once again the match was slipping from the Sixers’ hands when the Pistons led them at the end of third quarter
with 83-77.
However, in the fourth quarter the Sixers once again showed some resilience when they came back and equalled the score at 95-95. The Pistons were more determined and clinched the game away from the Sixers and defeated them with 104-100.
