Rodrigo, who has been placed at number three in Men’s Singles seeding in Peru International, showed a wonderful performance and won the fight in an inspiring way.
The third seeded local shuttler cheered the home crowd with his elevated play as he thrashed his opponent in straight games by taking just 34 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Cabrera failed to continue his winning run in the tournament as he could not cope up with the elevated skills of his rival and lost the match without showing any considerable resistance.
In the first set, it was Rodrigo who occupied the driving seat from the starting points and managed to remain far ahead of his challenger on the board.
He did not drop his speed and also kept Cabrera moving around in the court. Until the one-minute interval Rodrigo was in quite comfortable position.
After the interval, Cabrera changed his technique and tried to play safe badminton but failed to take any advantage as his higher ranked local rival was in complete control of the pace.
Rodrigo continued his domination in the opening set and bagged it easily by putting an incredible 21-9 score on the board.
In the second game, Cabrera played much better badminton as he did not commit mistakes in opening half and remained close to his higher ranked challenger.
In the meanwhile, Rodrigo tried to take an early lead but could not manage it because his lower ranked opponent was playing better this time. He could take a slight lead until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Rodrigo continued his authoritative performance in the contest by playing to his maximum potential and did not spare any opportunity for his opponent to make a comeback in the event.
The local shuttler was flawless in the concluding part of second set and took it with a decent score of 21-18.
