The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international went on to join City on an undisclosed fee, but based on rumours, his transfer fee is said to be in the region of twenty million pounds.
The players medical was taking place as his side were playing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the Community shield game. City went on to win that game and acquire the services of Rodwell in the end.
When talking about his move to the club, the twenty one year old midfielder is reported to have said: "It is an honour to be signing for the champions”

However, he went on to admit that it was going to be hard work from day one, if he was to succeed at his new club and that is exactly what he planned to do.
"The hard work starts today as I start to help contribute to the club winning more silverware.”
However, he did admit that he had a special place in his heart for Everton, for the way the club and the fans treated him. Nonetheless, he mentioned that when an opportunity such as big as this came calling he had no option but to follow through with it.
"I have a special relationship with the [http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043] chairman, Mr [Bill] Kenwright, who did not want me to leave but this was an opportunity I could not refuse," Rodwell continued.
Rodwell is not going to be a first team player for the club right away, but over a period of time, he could end up playing regularly for City and hence making a name for himself in the team over a period of time.
