This past season, the youngster went on to sit on the sidelines, as he was recovering from a number of injuries. These injuries also saw him miss out on a spot in the Euro 2012 team for the Three Lions.
However, with him now back to full fitness and eager to go, he is adamant over the fact, that he is going to break into the national side and secure a spot for himself for the World Cup.
When talking about the World Cup, Rodwell is quoted to have said: "The World Cup is every player's dream"
"That's what my next goal is, to keep working hard and trying to get in the England squad."
The twenty one year old midfielder is also confident over the current youngsters in the England squad, as he feels that they are all set to become the next big thing.
He then went on to add: "There's the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Henderson-c19102, myself and others, that can play regularly"
"You look at Manchester United who had http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Phil-Jones-c29903 was there too. There's a good spine of players. I'm sure in the next few years that these players will grow and mature.”
"They say part of the European game is about being able to keep the ball - you look at the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 and teams like that - so hopefully we'll emulate that.”
Having represented the England squad for the under sixteen side, Rodwell is now looking to prove his worth for the senior team. He has managed to get two international caps to his name, but he is bound to add to that number in the coming years.
Rodwell has been hailed by a number of players and at one point Manchester United were looking to land the midfielder.
This just goes to prove what he is capable of and as a result, we can expect great things from him in the future.
It is now up to the player to come out all guns blazing this coming season, as he looks to make a name for himself in the world of football, while securing a spot in the national team.
