Rogaine or Scalpmed? Does either work? Is one better than the other?

I'm interested in starting some regimen of natural hair-growth, but I'm obviously wary of the hype. I was wondering whether these two products are basically the same and, if not, if one was more reliable than the other?

Basically ScalpMed is Rogaine (5% minoxidil ) with added saw palmetto as a DHT blocker.  You can add saw pametto extract to the rogaine OR you can just take Saw Palmetto extract orally at 320mg per day along with using Rogaine.  Get the the Walmart version of 5% minoxidil for a much cheaper price like $18 compared up to $90 for ScalpMed.  Make sure the saw palmetto says standardized to 85% or 95% fatty acids.  Saw palmetto berry powder will not work.
