Roger Charlton confirms Al Kazeem won’t run on fast grounds – Horseracing News
Roger Charlton has confirmed that Al Kazeem will not take part in any race, where the track is faster.
According to the veteran trainer, “He really wants good or good to soft ground and I don't think I'll get away with running him for a fourth time on really quick ground. Hopefully by August or September we'll have some really nice,
fresh ground and he can go for the Juddmonte International or the Irish Champion Stakes.”
The five-year-old horse has enjoyed a great season until now, as he has been unbeaten in the four races he took part in. Three of those events took part on fast grounds, but that did not trouble the talented runner at all. Despite
that, his camp has decided not to put any extra pressure on his legs from now onwards, so they will prefer a softer ground.
Talking about the future plans of Al Kazeem, Charlton said, “There's also the Champion Stakes which is a special race, but the Arc is worth £2.2 million to the winner and he is disputing favouritism for that, so that has to be
his main aim. He is on his holidays and he's very happy.”
The seasoned horse started off his career back in 2010 and he did not look to be a quality horse back then, as he was unable to make an impression on his debut. It appeared that he needed a lot of hard work in order to be able
to deliver better results at the highest level. However, that was the only time when he dropped out of the top-three and since then he has always been making his team proud.
Overall, Al Kazeem has participated in a total of 12 races and has managed to win seven of them. His strike rate is getting better with the passage of time, thus his camp has decided to run him in selective competitions, where
he has a better chance of succeeding.
The seasoned horse has managed to win five back-to-back races and his fans will be hoping that he stretches his streak further by winning more events in the future.
