Roger Charlton expects Cityscape to bounce back – Horseracing News
Roger Charlton believes that Cityscape has the ability to bounce back strongly despite being unable to deliver a strong result in his only outing this year.
The seven-year-old horse has been in the sport for quite some time and his record is a decent one. However, it has been a long time since he last won a race, which is concerning for his owners.
According to Charlton, “He looked to have the world at his feet on that evening in Dubai, but six subsequent outings have failed to yield another win. I thought he was in very good order prior to his seasonal return in the Lockinge
last month, but the ground was just too fast for him.”
In his previous outing in May, Cityscape was priced 6 to 1 and was expected to be fighting for the top-three positions. Things did not work out as planned for him though, as he ended up at the bottom of the table. He seems to have
lost his rhythm and will need a lot of hard work in order to get back to his best.
His trainer is hopeful of some solid performances in the future and added, “We will keep him ticking over and if he seems right then the Queen Anne Stakes would be the logical step for him. He is a very smart horse and I am sure
there are other big days to be had with him.”
Overall, Cityscape has appeared in a total of 23 events until now, but his strike rate is not on the higher side. He has been competitive throughout his career though, which is why he is often rated highly by the bookies.
Although the seasoned stallion has managed to win just six races, he has secured some other solid results too, finishing as a runner up on nine times whereas grabbed the third spot on a couple of occasions.
At the moment, things are not really looking positive for the veteran runner, but he has the ability to cause problems for his rivals. He needs to appear in a few smaller events in order to get his confidence back. Then, he will
be in a position to represent his team in the Queen Anne Stakes.
