Roger Charlton predicts a strong run for Al Kazeem at Ascot – Horseracing News
Roger Charlton has claimed that Al Kazeem will be a strong contender for winning the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot in England.
The veteran trainer claimed, “He's a magnificent horse and patience has been rewarded. At the moment he's in great form and is lightly raced. He was impressive in Ireland and I see no reason why he wouldn't have a great chance
in the Prince of Wales's.”
The five-year-old horse has got a terrific record in the sport and there was only one occasion in his career when he failed to finish inside the top-three. It was his debut race back in 2010 and the ground was soft, which caused
him plenty of issues. However, he has been extremely competitive since then and his rivals never take him easy at any level.
So far, the talented stallion has never appeared in a race at Ascot, which is quite surprising. It is the venue, which is considered to be amongst the best and hosts some of the biggest events of the year with great prize money.
If Al Kazeem manages to win there, he will definitely gain a lot of confidence. However, things will not be easy for him, as there will be some strong competition for him from some of the other stallions.
Charlton is quite keen on achieving glory in the Prince of Wales's Stakes and claimed, “That is the ultimate race, the best group of three-year-olds meet older horses at a wonderful track for a huge prize. It's the greatest test
of the season. He's adaptable, stays a mile and a half and goes on soft ground which he might have to do at the time of year.”
This season, Al Kazeem has appeared in a couple of events and his performances in them were simply brilliant. He was rated highly on both occasions, but there were some other solid challengers up against him. Despite that, he handled
the pressure really nicely and finished on top of the table comfortably.
If the D. J. Deer’s owned horse continues delivering such great results, he will definitely become a force to reckon with in all the important Stakes.
