Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal to face-off yet again
World number one Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will face each other in the final of the 2010 Mubadala World Tennis Championship on Saturday.
Tennis fans all around the world will get a taste of what to expect in 2011 as both the top-ranked players will fight for their first win of the year.
Both of them could also meet in the opening week of the new year when they contest at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, which starts from Monday in Doha.
The Swiss tennis maestro, Roger Federer, made his way into the title battle of the non-ATP Abu Dhabi event after getting the better of Robin Soderling of Sweden in three sets on Friday. The final match score was 6-7, 6-3, 6-3. World number one Rafael Nadal
on the other hand, breezed past Tomas Berdych in a rematch of the US Open final to move into the finals in straight sets. He won 6-4, 6-4.
29-year-old Federer, who has so far won a total of sixteen Grand Slam titles on the tour, said, “It is extremely hard to do all the right things and not taking many chances in the big tournaments. So this is an opportunity for me to try out some different
things and go after my shots and just play a bit more relaxed and get a clear picture of really what I am trying to do.”
Nadal, reflecting on his match with the Swiss legend said, “It is always special to play Roger who is probably the best player in history of the sport. For me it is a big challenge and I hope it is a good match and the people enjoy it.”
Federer and Nadal also played in two charity matches in December with both winning one each.
Despite the fact that the outcome of this match is virtually meaningless, it is definitely going to be a nice way to start the 2011 season.
