Roger Federer “I'm wounded, tired and exhausted” – Tennis News
Reigning world number one, Roger Federer, will not be seen in action for quite some time. He is taking a time off to take some rest and regain the energy to play lengthy rallies and tough encounter with the same courage as a youngster.
There is no doubt about his talent but the stamina has definitely seen a major slump in the recent times.
However, the superiority of game play has overpowered the lack of stamina and he is still topping the list of the best tennis players of the modern era who are still currently contesting at an elite platform. He is 31 years old
but nothing can stop him especially when he is on song and that has kept the faith of the Swiss Maestro alive to keep up the game.
Talking to the media representatives after the end of the Davis Cup campaign, Federer confessed, "I need a holiday badly. I'm wounded, tired, and exhausted and need some time off right now and see where I go from here. Nothing
has been decided for the rest of year, even though there is a plan in place, that plan might change. I need to go back to drawing board to see what's important."
He further added, "Not really a whole lot to be quite honest," Federer said when asked how much he valued the tournament. "For me it’s more about taking part with my team-mates, I enjoy being with them, and that's about it really.
"I have a good time and my team-mates are all my best friends."
It is probably a bad news for the tennis fanatics but there is no doubt that everyone would like to see the best form of Federer intact for long so breaks are mandatory to recover from the wear and tear of the body due to hectic
tennis schedule. He has been playing tennis consecutively since the start of the grass court season that began in Halle in June. So, it has been quite long for the 31-year-old lad.
A break will probably help Federer to forget the battering he received at the hands of the Czech number one, Tomas Berdych, in the quarter-final of the US Open in New York. It was a very surprising result for anyone and that further
helped the cause of the number one Briton, Andy Murray, who went on to overpower the Defending Champion, Novak Djokovic, to claim the maiden Grand Slam title of his career at the age of 25.
