Roger Federer Storms into ATP Semi-Finals
Roger Federer was in sublime form, as he thrashed Sweden’s Robin Soderling in straight sets. It was a completely one-sided match as Federer played precision tennis, beating Soderling 7-6, 6-3 and booking a spot in the semi-finals of this mega event. Federer has managed to materialize, this exhibit of brute force and precision tennis in his previous three encounters and, everyone is hoping to see this living legend lift the ATP trophy, this year. Federer’s win has paved way for Andy Murray to progress into the semi-finals as-well. However Murray will have to beat Spain’s David Ferrer to secure a seat for the upcoming clashes.
After an extremely substandard season this year, Roger Federer is back at his very best, playing flawless tennis and dominating over his opponents. The manner, in which he bulldozed Murray and Ferrer, proves that the Swiss Maestro is back-in-business. Federer completely ousted Soderling by powerful ground strokes, deadly drop-shots, lightning-bolt aces and mind-boggling volleys. He had to bag only one set, in order to compete in the semifinals .But the Swiss ended in steam-rolling his unfortunate opponent. It is believed by many that Federer has rekindled the fire and passion that made him capture the Australian Open. It was in this grand contest, that Federer produced a jaw-dropping eighty-one percent winners on first serves. The Swiss leads Group B and unbelievably hasn’t lost a set in this tournament .By thumping Soderling; Federer has enhanced his statistics against the Swede. Extraordinarily, the Swiss has triumphed over Soderling fifteen times, in their previous sixteen encounters. After the match Federer Stated
"I'm happy I was able to come out and play a good, tough, solid match against a player who I thought was in good shape. I purposely didn't want to know the calculations before the match. Last year that played on my mind a little bit. I'm happy that all three matches
were straight sets wins with no wasted energy. I'm playing real well. I'm through to the semis. So it's all real good right now. And the danger of best-of-three matches is it can be over in no time"
