Roger Federer and David Ferrer coach kids in Abu Dhabi – Tennis News
Mubadala International tournament is all set to commence from 29th December, 2011 and world’s top performers are there to kick-off their new season warm-up contests. Former world number one, Roger Federer and world number five, David Ferrer, were
seen at the International Tennis Complex, Zayed Sports City to show some of their skills to the youngsters that gathered at the arena to witness two of the most blistering performers of tennis.
The show was set up for kids at the morning around 0930 local time. It was a free coaching c*m entertaining session for the new generation upcoming stars. They could see their heroes after a long period of time and some of them were even heard to have said
that it was their ‘dream come true’ that day.
Kids were extremely happy to see their idols in action, coaching them some of the most basic skills that could help them nurture as a sound tennis player, later in their mature age. The coaching was being provided from 1000 to 1100 and then a question answer
session was seen for the next one hour. It was interesting to see young kids coming up with some exciting questions that were technically correct but funny at the same time.
Both players were joined in by the Spanish number one, Rafael Nadal who signed autographs for the kids attending the event. He also portrayed his trademark pin point accurate serve technique to the youngsters that was good to see. It was something that has
never been done before by any tournament officials and this might be the beginning of something, kids and youngsters are always waiting for; ‘to meet their heroes in person’.
All these arrangements were made by Flash Entertainment. Prior to the event, one of the representatives of the company, Shatha Al Romaithi talked about this event to a local media member and stated, “Free kids activities on day one of the championship will
allow everyone to share in this special occasion and provide youngsters with memories for life. No other tournament in the world provides such an incredible opportunity to get close to the stars and learn directly from them.”
He further added, “Outside the centre court, the new and improved Interactive Zone will give every fan the chance to pick up a racquet and get involved, regardless of having a ticket for the Championship.” These kinds of activities should be held on regular
intervals in different parts of the world so more youngsters can benefit from the world’s great performers.
