Roger Federer and Victoria Azarenka receive top-billings at 2012 London Games- Tennis News
World number one players, Roger Federer and Victoria Azarenka will lead the field of seeded players in the draw for the London Olympics 2012. The draw for the games will be held on Thursday for the Great Games starting from
Saturday.
The singles tournament comprises of 64 players with 16 seeds, the player rankings is based on the tennis charts till 11th June.
Djokovic, being the second seed, will be defending his bronze medal at the London Olympics. The Serb has been the top seeded player for majority of the tournaments this season and it will be the first occurrence
this season that he will take part in a tournament as the number two seed.
Following them is the world number four, Andy Murray, determined to secure a title in his home land. After the sudden withdrawal of defending gold medallist, Rafael Nadal, the stage is clear for many young passionate players.
However, the final is completely an open gamble.
In the women’s single category, the 22-year-old Belarusian star Victoria Azarenka receives the top billing with 8800 points. She was seeded at number two in the recent Wimbledon Championships, where she lost
in the semi-finals to the former world number one, Serena Williams, in straight set of 3-6, 6-7.
Ever since the start of the year, Azarenka has been amongst the top three seeded players for all the championships. She tops the ranking charts with her consistent performance and will be amongst the top finalist at the London
Games.
Young Polish, Agnieszka Radwanska, got the second berth in the tournament seeds. She was the finalist against Williams at the Wimbledon Championships; however, the 23-year-old underdog was defeated by the US champion in a
close set match of 1-6, 5-7, 6-2.
The courts of All England Club provide a tough competition between the former world number one champions, Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams. Currently, the Russian beauty tops the charts with her remarkable performance
this year and attaining the 3rd seed in the Games. The American veteran, Williams, has been absolutely ballistic after her comeback this year and her triumph at the Wimbledon championship secured her the fourth seed in Olympic field.

In the London Olympics 2012 the doubles category will include 32 teams, comprising of 8 seeded pairs chosen by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
It is extremely hard to predict the winner of the gold medal at this edition of the Olympic Games but surely some nail-biting battles are about to be seen on the grass courts of London.
