Roger Federer completes 300 weeks as the top ranked player in the world – Tennis News
Reigning world number one, Roger Federer, has always kept the record book keepers very busy by registering multiple milestones in his stupendous career in the field of tennis. However, the recent accomplishment of completing 300
weeks at the top of the world rankings has been the most proudest and incredible achievements for the Swiss Maestro.
Commenting about the recent landmark, Federer said, “It's obviously an amazing number. I never thought of something like this when I was a little kid, that's for sure. I was just hoping one day my dream was going to come true to
play on the regular tour, play Wimbledon, maybe become world number one at some stage.”
He further added, “So here I am at 300 weeks. It's pretty incredible; probably one of my biggest accomplishments. I'm very proud of that record, no doubt about it. It's not one of those moments that happen and then you forget.
It took me a lot of great performances to get there.”
At the age of 31, Federer has still manage to outfox his opponents with the mastery of shots and reclaimed the number one spot that was snatched from his firstly by the Spanish superhero, Rafael Nadal, and then by the Serb legendary
tennis icon, Novak Djokovic. He has still got the x-factor that helped him to surpass some gigantic milestones in his career.
Federer has played eight finals this season and on six different occurrences he has been able to clinch the title that includes the Wimbledon Championships Grand Slam trophy at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
It has been a very successful season so far for the Swiss legend and the only time he was criticized for his game was in the contest against the number one Briton, Andy Murray, during the grand finale of the London Olympics. He
could have completed a Career Gold Slam by winning that match but the Briton was more pumped up and didn’t allow Federer to register yet another unique record.
However, the achievement of staying at the top of the world rankings for 300 weeks speaks about the superiority of the player and still there are a whole lot of achievements yet to be witnessed because the Swiss Maestro is hungry
for more.
