Roger Federer could have profitably finish in his ending years – Tennis News
According to the legendary tennis player, Boris Becker, Roger Federer is one of the greatest players of this century. He rated the Swiss Maestro the highest amongst all the Grand Slam champions of this era and believes that he
is the only player who would stand tall against all the over powering odds.
Talking to the media, the German said, “The reason why Federer is still successful at the age of 31 is because he has got a good technique. He can play from the baseline and when he has to, he can come to the net more often than
other players can. I don't think Nadal or Djokovic would have been so successful in the era of serve and volley but Federer could have played. The competition used to be different at my time. Today there is just Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray. I can't
remember anyone else apart from these winning the Grand Slams in recent times.”
Becker believes that Federer was always been the greatest and has brought high tides to his tennis careers twice and surely holds the potential to surprise all his critics again. He believes that the major trouble the tennis professionals
face today is due to the quality of tennis racquets they use.
Analysing the right-handers true skills, it is evident that his performance over the years is declining despite of his permanent stay in the elite Top-3 rankings. He recently celebrated his 300th week for being the world
number one at the expense of his Wimbledon win. However, after that Grand Slam victory, his game plan has shown a decreasing trend in the rest of the season.
The Serbian professional, Novak Djokovic, reclaimed his former world number one spot as he was desperately waiting to bag home his triumph over Federer. The reigning world number two, Federer, contested against the Serbian challenger
at the Barclays ATP World Tour Final held at the hard courts of London.
The 44-year-old German strengthened his argument by stating that the Swiss veteran has now incomparable experience in the field of tennis. He said that Federer has played for three-four generation, facing the greatest world-class
tennis hero’s. He said that if Federer was in good shape, he has the passion to outmuscle any competitor but he is out of shape as the years increase, and he can lose against anyone!
Nonetheless, the Swiss potential marked an emphatic end to his finishing years career, he surely top the list of the prospective candidates for being the winner at the next Grand Slam.
