Roger Federer crushes Denis Kudla in the second round draw – BNP Paribas Open 2012
Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, exhibited yet another display of sheer class and domination to clear the second round of the BNP Paribas Open, outplaying the 19-year-old local wildcard entrant, Denis Kudla on Sunday. The world number
three took barely an hour to outsmart his bleak opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, with the utmost ease.
Third seed Federer carried on his explosive run of form on the hard courts of Indian Wells to register his 17th victory of the running ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) season. He went into the matchup as the
hot favourite and swept off the 185th ranked American teenager to stamp his authority in no time. The mighty Swiss came to California, the United States, straight after winning the Dubai Duty Free Championships last week, disposing of the world
number four, Andy Murray, in the final.
As the Swiss Maestro is well known for, his rapid and precise serve game was exceptional throughout the match. He banged in 61 per cent of his first serve on target, belting eighth fiery aces and winning 22 out of 28 points on
it en route to victory. The third ranked Swiss had six break opportunities in the contest and he converted five of them to dump Kudla from the competition. On the other hand, the American youngster could register just one out of two break points to finish
on the losing side in the end.
Federer made quick roads in the opening set and nailed two break points straight up to race away to 4-1 lead in no time. His momentum was finally halted by Kudla in the sixth game, as he broke the Swiss serve to curtail his trail.
However, Federer kept his two-game lead to close out the first set at 6-4.
Once winning the opener, the third seed Federer turned into his ballistic mode, ravaging the American with three crushing serve breaks in the second set to pocket it with a breadstick, 6-1. He will play his third round clash against
the Canadian tennis ace, Milos Raonic, who stood victorious against Carlos Berlocq of Argentina later on Sunday.
