Roger Federer greets Rafael Nadal on his comeback to the tennis world – Tennis News
Former world number one, Roger Federer, is extremely happy to witness the 11-time Grand Slam Champion, Rafael Nadal, back in action. The arch rivalry between the two athletes is immense and they always miss each other on tours
if they are not playing together. The stamina levels and the aggression on the courts is outclass when the likes of the 26-year-old Nadal squares off against the 17-time Grand Slam Champion, Federer.
Recently, the second ranked Swiss flew to Rotterdam to play a tournament. In an interview to the local media members, he joked, “I saw a few pictures of Rafa, last week. I see he's still a left-hander - and his shirts looked good.
I'm happy to see him back and playing on the Tour.”
He further added, “He seems to have good energy. I was surprised he lost a final against a player ranked outside the top 50. I'm sure he got a lot of information about his game last week (in Chile). He knows now how much strain
he is putting on his body and how he is dealing with it.”
It is good to see the light mood used by Federer to praise the Spaniard and criticise the design and colour of pink shirts that Nadal has been wearing in Chile during the VTR Open. Nadal returned to the tennis circuit in the previous
week; reached the final of the VTR Open but the pain in the left-knee limited his play and he lost the encounter that didn’t allow him to mark a stupendous return.
For the past eight months, Nadal has been recovering from the knee injury that was inflicted way back in June 2012. He was playing the second round of the Wimbledon Championships against the Czech underdog, Lukas Rosol, and injured
his knee. He didn’t quit at that stage but lost the epic five-setter. However, the burden on his knee forced him to stay out of action for the bulk of the previous season in which he missed London Olympics, the US Open, Barclays ATP World Tour Finals and the
Australian Open in January 2013.
