Roger Federer has no grudges against Novak Djokovic – Tennis News
Former world number one, Roger Federer, is not entirely pumped up for the semi-final clash with the reigning world number one, Novak Djokovic. The match will be contested at Centre Court on Friday. Both these players have contested
against each other on several occurrences but that hasn’t ignited any sort of grudges in the heart of Federer and he doesn’t take it as a battle; just as tennis match against a player who can upset him.
It will be the 27th meeting of Federer and Djokovic on the eve of Friday. They have been fighting against one another for almost six years and Djokovic has to save his throne on Friday with Federer coming on with an
all-round onslaught to reclaim his number one spot in the world. It will be an eye-startling event to say the least. No one expects anything less than a five-setter between the Swiss Maestro and the Serb defending champion.
The respect for Djokovic was lost in the Davis Cup tie way back in 2006 when the Serb defeated Stanislas Wawrinka in an epic five-setter but exasperated the third ranked Swiss for his consistent contact with the trainer. Federer
slammed the Serb stating that he was no more than a ‘joke’ and also criticized her parents to be overwhelmingly enthusiastic about their son’s successful rally.
Federer mentioned, “I was just upset at him calling the trainer out for no obvious reason against my buddy, Stan, in a five setter.” However, now the two contenders are calm and have a friendly relationship between each other.
Federer stated on another occasion, “That was it. We had a quick chat about it in Madrid after that, and things are cool since a long time between me and him. I've always respected him. Have I gone out for dinner with him? No.
But we have had many meetings at the players council, and then now with the Grand Slams. He's been nice to work with. We've met on several occasions because of other things together. I have no issues with him, and I hope you believe me."
However, the contest will definitely heat up of Federer dominates it from the start on Friday.
