Roger Federer hot favourite for completing his hat-trick at the O2 Arena – Tennis News

Swiss tennis legend, Roger Federer, continues to prove his dominance at the season-ending finale, Barclays ATP World Tour Finals this weekend. He overwhelmed the home favourite, Andy Murray, in the cracking semi-final of the coveted
event at the glorious O2 Arena in London, the United Kingdom. The 31-year-old had already won the elite championship title six times in the past and his recent win over the world number three has made him the hot favourite for winning the final for the seventh
time.
Federer is currently the two times defending champion of the ATP World Tour Finals tournament and is strongly willing to complete his hat-trick of titles at this venue. He outplayed his arch rival, Rafael Nadal, in the final of
2010 edition and then came back next year to sustain his glory against the French powerhouse, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The Swiss Maestro is now up against the reigning world number one, Novak Djokovic, and the highly anticipated match will be played on the eve
of Monday.
"It's exciting, no doubt about it. I love playing against Novak," said Federer. "He's had a great year. He's had a great tournament so far... It is a big opportunity playing sort of the last match of the season, and facing off
against Novak obviously is always special, especially here at the World Tour Finals."
If Federer hunts down Djokovic in the Monday’s final, it will not be just any other title victory for the Swiss legend but he will achieve some more mile stones in his illustrious career. The 31-year-old has a chance to equal the
legendary John McEnroe’s record of 77 career singles title. He will then come at number three in the list of all-time ATP championship title-winners, with Jimmy Connors on the top (109 titles) and Andy Murray’s current coach, Ivan Lendl (94 titles) coming
next to him.
It will not be an easy task for Federer to overcome Djokovic in the upcoming big match, as the Serbian has been in a sublime form since the last two months. He was trailing by one set and a break in the semi-final against the Argentine
number one, Juan Martin Del Potro, but turned the tables on his opponent to reel off an impressive victory. Djokovic will certainly give a tough time to Federer in the final but the Swiss Maestro is expected to finish on the top by the time the contest will
end.
