Roger Federer looking to make a comeback in Rogers Cup
Roger Federer is back on the tennis court after resting for six weeks. The best thing about Federer is that we cannot count him out of the tournament. Federer has the capacity of disposing any opposition and he has shown his class in the ongoing Rogers Cup tournament being held in Toronto.
Federer seemed a little rusty but as it was his day he settled down in the end and had a successful finish. It is certainly a sign of relief for this champion tennis player as he was feeling and facing all the frustration after crashing out from Wimbledon in June this year. In the match the tennis ace from Switzerland, thrashed Argentinean tennis player Juan Ignacio Chela in a very tough match by 7-6 (9-7) 6-3.
Chela gave a very strong challenge to the former World number one but it was Federer’s experience and matchless talent that came in the way. After winning the match, Federer seemed much more relaxed and expressed his views by saying that he is satisfied with the way he performed and will try his level best to regain his quality winning form. Later, while talking about the match, Federer said that it was a good match for him and he is feeling great because it his first win after Wimbledon this year.
Before the US Grand Slam, Rogers Cup helps its participants analyze and work over their skills. It was also a good day for Argentinean ace, David Nalbandian, and Fernando Verdasco. As they have progressed into the second round of the tournament effectively.
Britain’s number one tennis player, Andy Murray also participated in the Rogers Cup and he will face Xavier Malisse in a match on Wednesday. The tennis veteran from Belgium, Xavier Malisse is definitely enjoying the best time of his career. He thrashed Michael Berrer by 7-6 (7-2) 6-2 in the first round and is ready to face Andy Murray in his upcoming match.
While talking about the current Rogers Cup, everybody is focused on Argentinean Tennis sensation David Nalbandian. Nalbandian has been away from the tennis scene and returned to the tennis court after a long absence. The Argentinean has shown his class in the tournament in a very impressive way. His win against David Ferrer is considered to be the best match of the tournament. Nalbandian defeated tenth seeded Ferrer in three sets, by delivering his best and giving a jaw dropping performance. The former World number three has worked hard to make such an amazing comeback. Nalbandian thrashed his opponent 7-5 3-6 6-3. Making his way into the second round of the tournament.
Rogers Cup tennis tournament is not less glamorous than any other tournament but all eyes are focused on the former World number one, Roger Federer. He has been facing problems with his form but he is still hoping for the best, to improve his current ranking which has dropped to number 3 because of his bad form. While talking about his current form and ambitions, Federer said that his love for tennis is not over yet as he wants to play more and more. Later, he added that he will play and try to give his best to achieve every possible opportunity. Federer said that he loves to win and he wants to win more Grand Slam titles before retiring from the professional tennis circuit.
The current world number seven Tomas Berdych from Czech Republic has also made his way to the second round by defeating Sergiy Stakhovsky with 6-2 6-4. The second round of the Rogers Cup will deliver some amazing moments of performances to cherish for the tennis fans. Being a fan we can only wish for our favorites.
