Roger Federer meets Andy Murray again at Wimbledon to write history in the books – Tennis News

Who would have though three weeks ago that the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, and the British number one, Andy Murray, will have a rematch of the Wimbledon Championships this soon? The reigning world number one, Federer, is all
set to write history once again in the final of the Olympic Games in London and he has to overcome Murray once again to serve his purpose.
The grand finale of the mega event will be held on the glorious Centre Court of the All England Tennis Club on the Sunday’s eve.
It is far more than just any other final match for the Swiss tennis genius. Federer has achieved everything in his professional career which is just a dream for all others. Winning the most number of Grand Slams, reigning the rankings
for the most number of years and many more unmatchable records have fallen to the brilliance of this man. However, the only thing he has never achieved through all those years is winning an Olympic gold medal. Federer needs to win the Sunday’s encounter to
complete his Career Golden Slam, the lone feat left in his professional career, to write his name in the history of the sport as the greatest player of all times.
Federer’s intensity towards his dream of claiming the Olympic gold was clearly visible in his semi-final clash against the former US Open champion, Juan Martin Del Potro. The four hour and 26-minute thriller was the longest match
in the Olympic history, finally settling in favour of the top seed Swiss at 3-6, 7-6(5), 19-17.
It was a fierce battle which kept the viewers on the edges of their seats throughout. Federer dropped the opening set quickly but managed to hang on in the following set. He had to play his heart out to edge past Del Potro in the
decisive set which took a total of 46 games to conclude. The Swiss Maestro struck 64 winners and 24 aces and capitalised on his opponent’s 34 unforced errors to pull out the hard-fought victory in the end.
"It is tough to speak now, I feel sad," said del Potro. "But Roger played a fantastic match, he is a good winner. I'm very sad at the moment. It's not an easy situation. Someone always has to win these matches and today it was
him."
Federer knows that this is the golden moment he which might never come again in his career and he need to win Sunday’s final at any cost to complete his Career Golden Slam. He will be the hot favourite for winning but Murray is
also in terrific form at the present and it will not be an easy task to be done.
