Roger Federer pleased from his accomplishments in 2012 – Tennis News
Renè Stauffer, a Swiss journalist, wrote a book named “Quest for perfection” to honour the dignity and accomplishments of a national hero, Roger Federer. She visited the Swiss Maestro again to have another interview related to his performances in the latest
season and the trip to Brazil that gathered a lot of hype lately.
Federer was questioned about his satisfaction level from the season that compiled a lot of glorious moments for him. He was asked if anything has been changed in his life in 2012 and the 31-year-old Swiss stated, “Maybe, yes. This has been an amazing year
for me, and also for the people close to me and who always support me. I started to play well last year, in the last part of the season, and the question I was wondering about was whether I could win Wimbledon again. Maybe win a gold medal. I had a great summer
and showed that I can still win big tournaments.”
It has been a terrific season for the reigning Wimbledon champion. He reached the semi-final at the Australian Open in Melbourne; exited the French Open at the same stage. He grabbed the 17th Grand Slam title of his career in Wimbledon at the
All England Lawn Tennis Club in London; dispatching the local number one, Andy Murray, in four sets.
With the triumph in London, Federer captured the number one spot in the world rankings. He returned to same arena in August and ended as the runners-up in the London Olympics singles category. The Swiss Maestro received a shocking quarter-final exit at the
US Open in New York. He played in the Barclays Association of Tennis Professionals World Tour Finals; stayed unbeaten until the final where he was dethroned by the reigning world number one, Novak Djokovic, who lifted his first year end trophy at the indoor
hard courts of O2 Arena in London.
Federer couldn’t end the season as the top ranked player in the world but did enjoyed a decent spell at the number one spot that helped him to overcome the record of Pete Sampras for the most number of weeks as the world number one player; stopped at 302
weeks. So, there is no reason that he should be dissatisfied by his performance in 2012.
