Making their way one-by-one through the lights, Swiss got an extraordinary welcome from the London crowd. Following with the service toss and the warm-up, Spaniard took his side to serve the match opener.
Flaring up, world No.5 served the opening game, turning down the scoreboard, 1-0. Although Ferrer won the match opener, a huge cheer was heard as Federer won his first point of the game. Continuing with game two, Federer held his
serve knocking out the lead and evening up at 1-1.

Federer, however, was looking much more comfortable and strong. On the other hand, Ferrer was not only playing for an achievement of a lifetime rather was trying to get over the 12-0 head-to-head record of the Swiss over Ferrer.
With just two more wins require for any of the two to conquer the set, Federer nicked away a breakpoint win to lead 6-5, and followed with a service winner to finish up winning 7-5.
Moving on, Ferrer, frustrated, once again served first for the set, set two. Although the two are merely differentiated in ranking, Federer ousted the 29-year-old Spaniard in perfection and tactics breaking him in the set opener
and leading through a service winner in game two, 2-0.
Continuing with the third game of the set, world No.5 finally rolled down his side of the scoreboard, yet, was unable to break back and level up the scores. Leading from the front, Swiss took out his service games, some with double
game point winner and other with a triple game point win.
With scores at 5-3 in favour of the veteran Swiss, Federer nuked the Spaniard in game nine, breaking his rival and finishing off the set 6-3, and the match in straight sets to make his way into his 100th final of his
