Roger Federer says Andy Roddick can win the Wimbledon Championship
The last year Wimbledon Andy Roddick face Roger Federer in Wimbledon final. The match did not end favourably for him as the tennis master Roger Federer defeated Roddick 16-14, during the fifth set of the match.
It was a sorrowful moment for Roddick beyond any doubt. However, the man heaved a sigh of relief when he heard some people calling his name, Roddick, Roddick!
Encompassing the chivalrous loser eventually is one of the traditions of Wimbledon. It has happened in the past as well when the Goran Ivanisevic succeeded in 2001 after losing at Wimbledon for a couple of times earlier in his career.
However, Roddick being the finalist at Wimbledon for a period of three times is now a player with emotions on his favour. Roddick although completely knows the sentiments but is somehow uncertain as what to do of them. According to Roddick, few things have surely altered this season which came as a shock for him.
It seems that the fans of 27 year old Andy Roddick are now aware of his extreme level of respect for his game of tennis, an emotion that is at times ambiguous due to his on court aggression with the umpire as well as his mocking sense of humour tor. But Roddick has been constantly listening to how much people value the last season’s final match at Wimbledon. The question that arises is that whether he will be able to grip the serve this time?
According to Federer, Andy has the potential to make it in the finals and eventually end up successfull. According to him, the last year’s match was a tight one and this year if the finalists happen to be the same, there is every possibility that Roddick can triumph. The tennis master said that he never likes to watch such matches again on television as it makes you upset on how close it ended up.
Federer has often stated that Roddick is most of the times under estimated for perhaps one of the reasons that he has been defeated for 19 times in their last 21 encounters against each other. However, the big man still appreciates Roddick’s strength and competence. What is more admiring about Roddick is his fighting power till the end of the match as he never gives up.
Crowd all over the world no matter if it’s a Wimbledon Championship or a French Open respects him for this very reason. Roddick while replying on Federer’s comments about him said that it always feels great to hear your peers saying good stuff about you.
The two have met each other in the charity matches only since the last season’s final at Wimbledon. People will see them battling against each other only in the semi final match of the Wimbledon 2010.
Roddick has done all his homework for the upcoming Wimbledon with a long preparatory week along with Larry Stefanki, his coach in London. The entire atmosphere and conditions seems almost perfect for a player like Roddick who wants to win as much of the matches as he possibly can by putting up a high degree of effort. As far as the positive support for the 4th seeded Roddick is concerned, he will definitely not fall short of it at the All England Club this time.
Roddick appeared in a television show during the start of this month. The host of the program who is a well known comedian in British, Jonathan Ross, blamed him for being overly modest on his part as far as his game is concerned. Ross later on asked him to repeat the chant of “Roddick is going to win the Wimbledon 2010” towards the end of his show which further boosted up the confidence of Andy Roddick.
