Roger Federer starts his own channel on YouTube – Tennis News
Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, has launched his own YouTube channel to make available his latest videos and provide live coverage of tennis matches.
This YouTube channel would be a treat for Federer’s fans, who would be able to watch live coverage of their favourite tennis player’s exhibition matches as well which did not use to get coverage before.
Federer announced the launch of his YouTube channel on his website, “I am very excited to launch my new YouTube Channel and be able to deliver to my loyal fans exciting programming that they might not otherwise have an opportunity to see.”
The 17-time Grand Slam champion is considered the best tennis player of all time by most of the tennis legends, experts and fans. Federer is the most followed tennis player in the world. The former world number one is already quite active on social media,
having over 12 million fans on his Facebook page and over 107 thousand followers on his Twitter account.
Federer frequently updates his Facebook page but this addition of YouTube channel would further increase fans’ access to Federer. The channel will kick start by covering the Swiss star’s exhibition tour to South America.
All six matches of the Gillette Federer Tour will be telecasted live on the newly launched YouTube channel, as he plays in South America for the first time as a professional.
Federer added, “It is wonderful that we can start this initiative with these great exhibitions and I hope to be able to deliver additional events, programs and original content on my channel in the future. These are exciting times in the social media and
digital world and I want to be able to provide my fans with more cool content they can find in one convenient place.”
The Swiss legend’s fans base is expanding with his growing age. The 31-year-old has no plans to hang his boots anytime soon and he has even announced that he would be targeting Rio De Janeiro Olympics in 2016.
Many of his critics had written him off after he failed to win any Grand Slam in more than two years but the Swiss silenced them by capturing his record levelling seventh Wimbledon title and reclaiming the number one ranking in this year.
