Roger Federer takes on John Isner in the quarterfinals - Olympic Games 2012
Reigning world number one, Roger Federer, will be playing on the Centre Court of the All-England-Club against the American number one, John Isner, on Thursday.
Federer, will be facing the 11th ranked US tennis star third time this year at quarter-final round of the London Olympics. This will be the first time Isner will be playing in the Olympics and he eagerly
waits for it. Federer leads the head-to-head series by 3-1 over Isner in the singles encounters.
Despite the Swiss champion’s outstanding career, Isner claims that he has the art to overpower him. The perfect example could be seen at the Davis Cup where the American number one thrashed him 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-2 in February
2012, boosting his confidence for the upcoming match.
The American had shown remarkable performance against the Serbian, Janko Tipsarevic, in his third round clash, securing a straight set victory, 7-5, 7-6, comprising of a lengthy tiebreaker of 16-14. The 27-year-old referred
as the scion model with fierce serves, which are most effective on grass courts, making this match very critical for Roger to win.

In a press conference before the match, Federer told the media, “We know he's got one of the best serves on tour, if not the best. That obviously makes it complicated getting into rallies, into rhythm. That's grass court
tennis”.
The Swiss professional is yet to win a gold medal in his career. Recently he lost in the doubles match, with fellow compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka, as they were unable to defend the gold medal they won in Beijing Olympics
in 2008.
Isner is seems very certain about his victory, stating that he knows how to beat the odds. However, he was very positive about his Swiss legend and stated, “He's the hottest guy on the tour. He's back to No. 1 in the world.
I'm going to have to serve well. I have to go for my shots. Anytime I get a ball I can hit, I'm going to have to hit it big because I can't rally with Roger. It's as simple as that. If I try to get in rallies with him, he's going to beat me.”
The American tennis ace needs to have faith in his skills and put pressure with his massive serves and must take chances before Federer takes the lead. He needs to eliminate the chance of all errors in his game play, as Roger
is one of the best skilled technicians in the business.
