Roger Federer vs. Novak Djokovic encounters (Part Three) – Tennis Special
Djokovic prevails over Federer - Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship 2011
Serbian number one, Novak Djokovic, bagged home the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship trophy in the year 2011. He defeated the Swiss professional, Roger Federer, 6-3, 6-3, in the final round of the ATP (Association of Tennis
Professionals) World Tour 500 event held at the hard courts of UAE.
Djokovic in a post match interview told the media, “Any time I win against Roger it's a great success because he's such a great player. We all know how mentally strong of a player he is. To be able to win against Roger in straight
sets as I did tonight is incredible, but I want to keep on going. I know that I have qualities to do even more, and that's what I want. This match has probably been one of the best that I played this year. I want to keep it up, definitely. I feel physically
well, fit, mentally motivated to do even more.”
The right-hander Serbian challenger exhibited a remarkably improved performance in the tournament, as he was wise to pick on Federer at his weak points. He served at a sublime rate throughout the match and secured his rival’s serve
in the third game. The Swiss participant was unable to handle the mounting pressure and crumbled in the ninth game.
The Swiss senior made several unforced errors in the opener, which made it impossible to construct the winner’s momentum. He failed to fight back with a strong defence mechanism and Djokovic scoped his triumph comprehensively.
Federer nudges past Djokovic - Barclays ATP World Tour Finals 2010
At the 2010 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, Federer consolidated a straight-sets win against the Serbian contestant in the semi-finals at the indoor hard courts of London. The two challengers met each other for the second time
in this season but contested a tough battle to get the better of one another.
The Swiss participant manifested an outstanding performance, thundering onto his competitor in the 80-minute thriller and breaking his serve four out of 11 times en route to victory.
The Serbian played a decent match with aggressive strokes and had a fair chance to dominate his opponent. He was unable to hold his lead for a long time as Federer advanced with a powerful pace, impossible to subdue. The Serbian
tennis ace was the champion at the two ATP titles this year and was the runner-up at the US Open in the same year.
