Roger Federer wants to add another record to his tally by winning London Finale – Tennis News
World No.4, Roger Federer, seemed to have lost his touch this year and wasn’t able to clinch major at all. His title drought ended with his first triumph in Basel earlier this month and he looks to wrap up this year with another
majestic victory in Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, starting from Sunday November 20th.
The Swiss maestro has won five year-end London finales. He is one of the three players to have such a commanding record, the other being the former World No.1’s, Ivan Lendl and Pete Sampras. If he manages to win this year ATP Tour
Finals, he will become the only man in the history of tennis to have won this title for the record six times.
The problem for Federer is that the aging factor is creeping into his game and long rallies and three-setters have been difficult for him plus the likes of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray are such names that are not
easy to defeat at any platform.
Federer is the kind of a man that is born once in a lifetime; his legacy is everlasting as he ruled the world of tennis for almost a decade and still maintaining to stay in top 5 is such a majestic achievement. He has won 23 Grand
Slam titles in his tremendous career and his overall tally of titles is 69. He has a chance this year to add one more to his tally and make it 70.
While holding a press conference before his departure to London, he said “It's a chance to finish the year on an absolute high at the World Tour Finals and I think it brings the best out of me. I've managed to win five times so
it's been a successful event for me over the years. It's a great stadium in London, it's clearly different from Wimbledon but the way they present the show with smoke, music and lights it's very intimate and I believe it's one of the greatest venues in tennis”.
He praised the reigning World No.1, Novak Djokovic, for his impressive record of 69 wins and four losses this year and considers him to be the toughest competitor for him in year-end finale. He was enjoying his time at home before
leaving for London on Thursday November 17th. His fans hopes that he adds yet another record to his name with a triumph at Barclays ATP Tour Finals in London.
