Swiss legend, Roger Federer, has been on the tennis courts for years now but his inspiration by the love of the sport is still making him play at the age of 31. The veteran has achieved literally everything in his illustrious career
and he wants to keep playing tennis for at least four more years. He shared to his fans that what actually inspires him to remain on the tennis courts and compete against the world class athletes.
“I think it’s the love for the game, the appreciation I get from the crowds, I guess playing for records from time to time, playing against different types of generations and playing styles,” he said. “The game has evolved sort
of over the last 13-14 years I’ve been on tour. It’s changed quite a bit ever since.”
His sheer love for the game was witnessed once again when he competed against the world number one, Novak Djokovic, in the title of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. He had already won the season-ending championship six times
but the Swiss Maestro thrilled the capacity crowd with his high-class game play. Although he lost in the end, the local crowd at the glorious O2 Arena enjoyed every moment of the nail-biting contest between two of the best players in the business.
A number of his contemporaries have quit playing tennis, especially Andy Roddick, Juan Carlos Ferrero and Fernando Gonzalez retiring this year, but the Swiss Maestro is still holding the world number two spot and winning titles.
Federer still shows no signs of retirement in the near future and it is his passionate love for tennis which is driving him to play at the age of 31.
“I think you need inspiration, motivation from different angles to keep you going,” Federer further added, “You need to have some success and you need to have the right reasons why you’re doing it. I think I’ve always been able
to do that and I really enjoy myself out on the court.”
A huge number of tennis fanatics and critics believe that Federer is the greatest player the history of sport has ever witnessed and the Swiss tennis genius is living up to their hopes.
