Roger Mayweather says Amir Khan will lose the rematch against Lamont Peterson – Boxing news
Trainer Roger Mayweather is of the view that Amir Khan will again lose to Peterson in their upcoming rematch.
Amir Khan, who is set to fight Peterson on May 19 in Las Vegas, is desperate to get the titles back which is being seen by many as a pressure on him.
Roger Mayweather is of the view that Khan should never fight Peterson again since the latter is much more talented than Khan and can easily defeat him again. He further said that the fight is a bad match up of styles of both the fighters, with Peterson having
the upper hand.
Roger Mayweather was once trainer for Peterson so he knows what Lamont is capable of. Roger added that he always knew Lamont Peterson is the man who can be troublesome to Khan since he has seen Lamont practicing with his nephew Floyd Mayweather Jr. Peterson.
He further added that both the fighters exhibited more or less the same fighting spirit and skills due to which none of them ever won and the practice sessions ended with no winner.
He added, “That’s one of the reasons why I knew he would whoop Amir Khan. He sparred good with Floyd. He [Khan] ain’t going to beat Peterson. That guy got his number. That’s how it goes. Sometimes somebody has your number.”
Khan has been giving in his best efforts to make the rematch possible. Last week he happily announced finalisation of the match through his Twitter account and since then updates of his training preparations have flooded the internet.
Amir Khan has definitely become the teen sensation today but he still lacks the fighting spirit and skills needed to be the champion, as most former fighters put it.
Lamont Peterson and Amir Khan will collide on May 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to decide which man is better. Peterson has already said that he will not let this fight be the victim of controversies and so he is giving in his best to make sure he can
beat Khan cleanly. If Khan loses this rematch, he will not have another opportunity to prove his mettle to the world.
