Roger Mayweather wants Floyd to fight Timothy Bradley next – Boxing News
Following arch rival Manny Pacquiao’s knockout defeat at the hands of nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez, Roger Mayweather believes his nephew Floyd Mayweather Jr. should fight Timothy Bradley next. According to Roger, since Bradley has defeated Pacquiao earlier
this year, a fight against him would prove Floyd is better than the Filipino.
“I’d like my nephew to fight Tim Bradley. Bradley got the … win over Pacquiao. I know that’s not a hard fight for my nephew,” said Roger in an interview with Los Angeles Times.
“He’s a bigger name than the other guy. He’s undefeated. He’s going to try. If he can give the fans a little bit of a show, hey, it is what it is. If they can make that fight, it will really show what my nephew could do to Pacquiao, too, and stop these people
from saying he’ll never fight Pacquiao, or that he’s scared,” he added.
Dreams of a super-fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather were shattered with the Filipino’s knockout victory past Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Prior to the fight, Pacquiao was insisting Mayweather of putting up the show for fans but now it seems
like the Filipino would need a little more consideration before locking horns with the unbeaten WBC welterweight titlist.
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao stand as the best pound for pound boxers today. While there was debate over which fighter is the best, Pacquiao’s loss to Marquez clearly puts Mayweather on the top. Pacquiao damaged his legacy by throwing a lazy hook
that was immediately countered by Marquez with a ferocious right.
It was the first time in that the Filipino hit the mat unconscious. He was there for a couple of seconds until the medics waked him up.
For now, Roger Mayweather believes a fight against Bradley would prove his nephew is better than Pacquiao but the claim might be disputed. Bradley won a controversial decision over Pacquiao earlier this year. A fight review by WBO clearly stated that Pacquiao
was the better man in the ring. In other words, if Mayweather needs to prove he is better than Pacquiao then he needs to face the Pac-man and not a substitute.
