Roger Rasheed says Bernard Tomic should discuss his future plans with his Dad – Tennis News
Australian Davis Cup team’s former coach, Roger Rasheed, thinks that country’s highest ranked tennis player, Bernard Tomic, should talk to his father and they should decide what the youngster wants to achieve in his career.
Tomic’s bad patch continued in this week too, as he was thrashed by Russia’s Mikhail Youzhny in the first round of the Swiss Indoors Basel on Tuesday.
The Australian number one could not put up slightest of challenges for his opponent, as he managed to win just two games in the entire match, losing it 0-6, 2-6 inside an hour.
Just few hours after Tomic’s loss, Rasheed tweeted, "Ok, time for Bernard Tomic to sit down with his father & work out what he (Bernie) wants from the sport - A long term plan & Enjoyment needed.''
Tomic was being considered Australian tennis’ future hope but his recent series of failures has put a big question on that. Tennis analysts and former players have even said that the Australian is not serious about his tennis.
When he lost the final set 0-6 to Andy Roddick in the two round of US Open, American legend, John McEnroe, blamed that Tomic did not put any effort to win the match.
Tomic became the youngest player after Boris Becker to advance to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon Championships last year. He followed that success by reaching the fourth round at this season’s Australian Open.
However, his bad patch started when he lost to the then 50th ranked player, Santiago Giraldo, in the second round of the French Open. The Australian player lost his opening match in six straight tournaments after that.
Darren Cahill, who is a respected tennis analyst, said about Tomic, "Someone needs to put Bernie Tomic on the flying kangaroo. Year was done weeks ago. Charge up the batteries, get faster & stronger for 2013," Cahill tweeted.

He added, "For what it's worth, I think Roger Rasheed would be a good coaching fit for Bernard Tomic. Plenty of support in Rafter, Roche, Todd.W & co."
Tomic has managed to just reach the last-four stage at four tour level events in 2012.
