  1. Thanks for the info Michael N.

Can you please quote the source of your info about how Nadal would take over #1 in the scenario that you described.

    Thanks again

Edit: Michael N, that math is great, but you are missing one major piece of information. Federer and Rafa are both playing tune-up events in Halle and Queens respectively. You have not taken this into account and we have no means of knowing how either of them are going to fair in these events

  2. his #1 spot is save even though he lost he could have lost in the semifinal and still be # 1

  3. Roger Federer has held the #1 ranking since February 2, 2004, for a record 227 consecutive weeks and counting.  He is guaranteed to stay #1 at least through the end of Wimbledon, where a loss in the 3rd round or earlier, combined with a Nadal title victory, would move him down to #2 and Nadal up to #1.

edit:  Tennis Fan, I just did the math.  A victory at Wimbledon is worth 1000 ranking points, runner-up is 700 points, and the 4th round is 150 points.  If Nadal wins WImbledon, he will have a net gain of 300 points, and if Federer loses in the 4th round or earlier, he would have a net loss of 850 points or more.  Right now Federer's lead over Nadal is 1090 points, so if the above scenario happens, then Nadal would take the lead by 60 points (or more if Federer loses before the 4th round).
