Rogers Cup 2010: Murray to face cruel temperature once again in the quarter finals
Andy Murray is facing some serious problems with the hot and humid temperature of Cincinnati Masters tennis tournament. It is already proved that the Briton tennis ace always struggles in the temperature which exceeds thirty degrees.
It seems that God and the management is still not going to be kind to him, as he will have to play another match in the afternoon against his veteran rival Mardy Fish. Murray struggled hard against Gulbis in his previous match and was failed to fight against the humid conditions of the court. Later in his interview after the match, Murray expressed his views in a frustrated manner and requested the management to arrange his match in the cooler timings of the day. However, all of his efforts went in vain, as his request to play in the evening resulted unsuccessful. The British best tennis player will now have to play against Mardy Fish at 12:00 pm, which will be a very crucial test for him.
The hot and humid conditions can no doubt affect a player’s performance and stamina during a crucial game. The ability to play in harder conditions is very important for a professional tennis player and unfortunately top ranked players like Andy Murray and current world number three Novak Djokovic often struggle to play in the hot and sunny weather.
The world number four, Andy Murray is now going to face one of the toughest challenges of the Rogers Cup. The Scot has already won his previous seven matches, which is a proof of his remarkable stamina and performance. All of his previous matches were played in the afternoon timings and now the veteran seems to be getting a little uncomfortable with the usual timings of his matches. While talking about the timings of the matches, Murray expressed his views and told the media that he is not feeling comfortable at all, as he is almost fed up of playing in the afternoon sessions.
He added that he has been playing his matches in the afternoon sessions from his first match of the tournament, which was held earlier in Toronto. The twenty three years old tennis veteran said that hot and humid conditions make him frustrated and are a challenge for his health, as he already had his face burnt by the sun. Later he added that he will try his level best to keep his winning form alive as winning a game is more important to him than anything else. Before the final announcement of the timings of his match against Fish, Murray was hoping for a new time session for his upcoming match and made a request to the tournament management as well.
Murray expressed his views and expressed before knowing the timing of his next match that it will help him a lot, if he plays his next match in the evening rather than playing it in the afternoon. He added that it is not a bad thing for him to request the organizers to give him a cooler slot of the day to play his match, as he has already played his previous seven matches in the steamy conditions.
Despite of winning his previous matches in a remarkable manner, the British tennis ace looks tensed and careful about losing his winning streak. His match against Fish will definitely test his will power as well as stamina because the time and situation is making him frustrated and uncomfortable.
He has already been thrashed by the American ace Mardy Fish twice and his previous record against his American rival is not so convincing as well. In the quarter final match, the pressure will be higher on the Briton’s side, as he has to keep his focus towards his game rather than the cruel and hot temperature.
