He will face Philipp Kohlschreiber, a German tennis player in his quarterfinal match on Friday.
“The world’s top ranked players are all here to play at the Rogers Cup tennis tournament 2010 therefore every match coming up in the championship is going to be a tough one here”, said Nadal. “However, I am glad that I made a good come back since my Wimbledon victory last month at the All England Club”.
Meanwhile, Daniel Nestor along with Nenad Zimonjic won their doubles match against Mark Knowles and Radek Stepanek in a total of three sets. The final match score was 4-6, 6-3, 10-6.
Zimonjic commented on Thursday’s match by saying, “It was a difficult match however Daniel did well in the second set as he provided us a break. After that, we played with a greater level of confidence all through the match and I am really glad that the entire crowd also supported us well all through the yesterday’s battle”.
The Court (number one at the Rexall Centre) where Zimonjic and Nestor played their match against Mark Knowles and Radek Stepanek at the York University was brim full of spectators. Nestor admitted after the match that Stepanek and Knowles were a difficult team to go up against. They succeeded at the Washington Classic whereas Nestor along with his partner havent won a title in the last two months.
“It feels great after winning today’s match. We played quite well”, he said.
When commented on his former partner Mark Knowles, Nestor said, “I had to adjust my style and game plans a bit in order to fight against him as he knows my game pretty well. Nevertheless, I also know every bit of his game, how he plays as well as how he reacts on the court”.
“When we used to practice together in the past, he was the one who knew my game patterns and stuff more than anyone else on the tour. However, at that time he used to see me on daily basis which is not the case anymore. As when you don’t observe and follow any one on daily basis, you kind of forget their style with time”, he added.
