Born on 3rd June 1986 in the city of Manacor, Rafael Nadal is a professional tennis player from Spain. The currently top-ranked tennis ace, Rafa has so far captured a total of eight major trophies in his career along with a gold medal at the Olympic Games back in 2008. Moreover, the 24-years old Spaniard has also grabbed a total of eighteen ATP World Tour Masters and thousands of other tennis titles in his professional life. The left-handed Rafa is considered by many, as one of the greatest tennis contenders of all times.
The Spaniard was ranked number two in the world, one place behind the Swiss tennis master, Roger Federer for a record time period of one hundred and sixty weeks prior earning his number one ranking, where he remained from August18, 2008 to July 5, 2009. The 1.85 meters tall Spaniard recaptured his number one spot once again on June 7, 2010 after grabbing his fifth clay court French Open trophy. His victory on clay surface has given him the title of “King of clay” and has led to many analysts considering him as one of the very best in the game of tennis. The 24-years old Rafa was granted the Prince of Asturias Award for Sports back in 2008, as a result of his contributions to the game of tennis.
At the grass court Grand Slam tournament this season at the All England Club, Rafael Nadal defeated a couple of tennis players on his way to the final battle including Kei Nishikori, Robin Haase, Philipp Petzschner, Paul-Henri Mathieu, Robin Soderling, as well as the number one Brit tennis ace, Andy Murray. Stanislas Wawrinka, who is ranked number 24 in the world, won his first round match against Frank Dancevic on Tuesday in a total of two sets. The final match score was 6-1, 6-4.
