The Australian left-hander has been one of Derbyshire's most valuable players over the last two seasons but he has said that the offer from Middlesex was just too good to turn down and the chance to finish his career at Lords is special.

Middlesex seem to be upping the stakes with this signing and look intent to make a real push for silverware next season. They are currently heading the pack to sign England's Kevin Pietersen as well as negotiating the return of Australia Phil Hughes.

Rogers is expected to push for the captaincy at Middlesex although the county have a number of individuals who could carry out the role next year. Owais Shah is being tipped as the next skipper of the county and this will be a role he will desire if he wants to get back into the England good books.
