Rohan Bopanna attends Aisam-ul-Haq’s wedding in Lahore; clears all doubts – Tennis News
Pakistani tennis ace, Aisam-ul Haq Qureshi, rounds off his tiring yet fruitful season with a new responsibility to take care off in the coming years. He has married a Pakistani born British citizen, Faha Akmal on Saturday 17th December.
The most memorable event of Aisam’s life was arranged at the grandest place in Lahore, Garrison Golf Club, which featured number of well known personalities, like Aisam’s ex-doubles partner Rohan Bopanna and their extremely talented American coach.
The wedding ceremony was telecasted live on Pakistani channels and a lot of people glued to their televisions to witness their only world class tennis icon’s marriage ceremony. Aisam wore a white ‘sherwani’ and her bride was all
dressed up in that formal red ‘lehnga’. Both were looking absolutely stunning and everyone prayed for their long lasting relationship.
It was good to see his ex-doubles partner attending his wedding ceremony that cleared a lot of doubts in the mind of those people who thought that their duo has separated due to some issues. They are pretty good and it’s just a
tactical decision. The decision has nothing to do with race, culture or Indo-Pak relationship. It’s all good and both are happy with their decision and have maintained their friendly relationship.
On breaking up with Aisam, Indian tennis ace Bopanna said, “As the season has ended now, I can confirm that I am playing with Mahesh in 2012. Who I want to play with is my decision. I did have a successful year with Aisam but now
I am starting a new year with Mahesh, and it’s as simple as that.”
Some people thought that something has happened between the Indo-Pak Express team members during the year-end finale but Bopanna cleared the air and talked to the media during Aisam’s wedding in Lahore. The Indian cited that there
was nothing personal about this decision, they both are still the best friends and will remain forever. It’s just that they wanted to change partners so that they could learn something new.
Aisam has decided to team up with world number 20, Jean-Julien Rojer from Curacao, whilst his long lasting partner Bopanna will heads on the 2012 season with another tennis ace from India, Mahesh Bhupathi. Leander Paes and Mahesh
Bhupathi also broke up as they both were willing to team up with someone else to learn new trait of playing doubles tennis. All these happenings were seen after all four players made their way back home from the year-ending finale, Barclay’s ATP World Tour
Finals, contested at the O2 Arena in London.
