Rohit Sharma credits Sachin Tendulkar for his performance in the Caribbean

Sharma had played under Tendulkar’s captaincy for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 4 (IPL), before making inroads into Team India’s squad for the Caribbean.

It was Sharma who steered the Men in Blue to claim the 5-match ODI series 3-0, by lashing 86 not out while chasing the 226-run target against the Windies, in the 3rd ODI, on June 11, 2011.

Sharma performed well with the bat in the IPL tournament and the Mumbai side finished up in Semi-finals round.
During his IPL stint, Sharma spent a lot of time with Tendulkar in the nets and his efforts to learn appear to be paying out.
Having shown consistent performance throughout the series, Sharma scored 26 in the one-off T20, 68 not out in the 1st ODI and 86 in the 3rd match.
He has come under the spotlight through his performances in the IPL and the current series. Analysts believe he has what it takes to cement a spot in the national side for the long haul.
The 24-year-old right-handed batsman made his international debut in 2007. He has played 64 ODIs and 21 T20Is so far with batting averages of 30.63 and 34.50 respectively and is yet to play his first Test.
