http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RG-Sharma-c2309 not surprised by Dhoni’s blitz – Cricket News
Rohit Sharma, the Indian right-handed batsman, feels that the pitch for the final of the tri-nation tournament against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 was very difficult to bat on and is not surprised by the match-winning efforts
of his skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 were chasing a low total of 201 runs in the all-important encounter against the islanders. The Men in Blue were off to a good start through Sharma, who scored a valiant half century. However, the late
order batsman failed to live up to the expectations and India had their backs against the wall with nine wickets down and still needing 20 runs to win.
The Indian skipper rose to the occasion and smashed 16 runs in the final over of the innings to snatch victory from Sri Lanka’s jaws. He remained unbeaten on 45 runs which came off 52 balls with the help
of five boundaries and a couple of massive hits out of the park.
Sharma, who did well throughout the competition, said after the match that the pitch was not easy to bat on and it was very hard to execute the strokes. The opening batsman was all praise for Dhoni and said
that the cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jharkhand-c800 has finished a lot of matches for his country in past.
"The wicket was not easy to play shots on, so I just wanted to delay my shots [and] bat till the end, but unfortunately it didn't happen. But it came out really well in the end,” Rohit said. "Dhoni has done
it over and over for us, so we were all positive in the dressing room. We've seen him doing it for many years now. This wasn't any surprise."
On the other side of the coin, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AD-Mathews-c913, the Sri Lankan skipper, is happy with the performance of his bowlers and said that they made it tough for the Indians.
"Our bowlers showed a lot of character, especially Herath. He brought us back into the game [and] almost helped us defend 200," the all-rounder mentioned.
Sri Lanka’s next assignment in international cricket is the home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, which includes five One Day Internationals (ODI) and three T20 Internationals.
